Durango.- Elements of the National Guard were attacked by armed civilians during a patrol between the Municipalities of Suchil and Vicente Guerrero, in the southeast region of Durango.

Around noon, agents located a black Chevrolet Tahoe van with tinted windows invading the road, before four civilians fled to leave the scene.

Local media report that as soon as the agents got in position to go after the civilians, the subjects opened fire and forced them to go back.

The presumed suspects left their vehicle behind and managed to escape without any of the National Guard being injured.

Inside the truck, the personnel found a .40 mm caliber grenade; eight long gun magazines supplied, as well as an uncounted number of cartridges, a Kevlar helmet and two black bulletproof vests.

After the attack, the agents remained guarding the area until the arrival of the Public Ministry agent, to start the corresponding file.

So far no arrests have been reported after the events.

Attacks against the National Guard increase

Just this Saturday, in the municipality of Charcas, in San Luis Potosí, personnel from the National Guard and the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) were ambushed by armed individuals, while they were carrying out their surveillance work in the town of San Juan of Tuzal.

During the attack, two members of the GN and one from the Sedena were assassinated, while an unspecified number of military personnel were injured and transferred to a hospital belonging to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).

In Villaflores, Chiapas, GN agents were also attacked when they stopped a truck that was allegedly carrying migrants on December 5. The suspects managed to escape and injured an unreported number of elements.
