On the afternoon of this January 24, they denounced on social networks the “arrest” of a puppy in the Roma neighborhood, Mexico City. The dog was caught on video while it was immobilized on the sidewalk Yucatan street.

In the recording you can see a group of at least nine police officers from the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) around the dogwhich was gagged and being manipulated by one of the uniformed men.

It has been unofficially revealed that the dog would have bitten one of the officers while carrying out an operation in the house where he was.

Until now The SSC has not issued a position to disclose the circumstances in which the dog was immobilized and what happened to it. However, the fact has already sparked criticism online.

Those who spoke out against argued that the number of policemen was excessive for an event in which an animal was involvedin addition to coming to his defense by assuring that his behavior is the result of the education he received and that he should not be punished for it.

“How many officers to stop a puppy, it’s not his fault.”, “At least 12 policemen to stop a Chucho, and meanwhile kidnappings in broad daylight at @MetroCDMX at @TuAlcaldiaGAM. We really are bad as a country” and “If the puppy bit the officer, it was because the dog entered her home and the officers cannot be like that,” were some of the responses to the video.

In a fact contrary to the one denounced on social networks, the SSC announced that this Tuesday Police officers rescued a puppy that was run over in the streets of the Venustiano Carranza mayor’s office.

The agency explained that officers from the Animal Surveillance Brigade (BVA) were alerted on social networks about the presence of a dog lying on the bench with blood on its muzzle.

Rescuers immediately helped the Old English Shepherd breed dog. By the time they approached him he got up and began to run frantically by the sidewalk; however, they managed to stop him.

“In wanting to contain him, he was offensive to the officers, but They managed to calm him down and put him on a leash to move him to a safe place and value it,” the SSC said in a statement.

On the other hand, on January 12, the Sonora State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) announced the opening of an investigation folder for the death of 40 dogs in the municipality of Caborca.

The massive death of animals aroused suspicions about a case of animal abuse, due to the strange circumstances in which they died. The residents of the area denounced that the dogs would have died poisoned by meat with poisonaccording to the local press.

Most of the dogs had an owner, so at the time the authorities went to the scene, they found only a lifeless dog on public roads. In that sense they asked the owners to deliver the corpses of their pets, so that the Forensic Scientific Laboratory could establish the cause of death and the FGE acts based on the results.
