The shocking discovery happened at an Ohio animal rescue center. In addition, according to information shared by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, more than 90 malnourished dogs and puppies were located at the site.

The Sheriff’s deputies and investigators of this unusual case expressed that the canines were in conditions that they classified as “the most horrible they have ever seen.” Likewise, the Sheriff’s Office shared that the dogs and puppies they found alive were distributed in 2 different properties located in the municipality of Madison in various structures. One of the structures that was first discovered by the researchers was a garage that housed more than 25 caged dogs and had an interior temperature of 32 degrees Celsius.

In addition, several animals were reported to be kept inside cages close together that were cluttered with urine, fecal matter, and without water or food. The Sheriff’s Office shared that one of the cages had a female inside along with her 8 newborn puppies. According to a press release issued by the authorities, the security forces found 11 adult dogs in what was called the “main house” of the shelter, which were caged. On the other hand, the canines that were found dead were found distributed in 5 refrigerators and freezers, some of which were not working.

The statement describes that the conditions of the house were classified as uninhabitable. The people in charge of entering the home declared that the smell was so strong that it caused pain in their eyes. The authorities in charge had to leave the property several times due to the things they saw inside and to recover both physically and emotionally. In the statement, it is revealed that the rescue center operated under the name “Helping Hands for Furry Paws.”

The owner and operator of the rescue center was identified by Butler County Police as Rhonda Murphy. This person faces a large number of charges for the crimes of neglect and cruelty towards companion animals.
