Saltillo.- Divided in half, the State Council of Morena ignored the polls of the National Elections Council of Morena that nominated Armando Guadiana as Coordinator of the Defense Committees of the Fourth Transformation, before the candidate for the Coahuila Governorship.

Based on the statutes of Morena, advisers related to the Undersecretary of Federal Public Security, Ricardo Mejía Berdeja, affirm that Morena should have created a State Elections Commission to participate in the process that appointed Armando Guadiana, and therefore, the process led by the National Executive Committee of Morena would lack validity and should be repeated.

In an extraordinary session held this Tuesday, which was attended by 37 of the 72 councillors, the Morena State Council asked the National Elections Commission to create the State Elections Council that may participate in the designation of candidacies for local Deputies and Governor.

Layla Yamilet Matanus Castaño, President of the State Council of Morena, said that in Coahuila the polling procedure or even another method to designate the candidate for Governor must be restored.

“Today we had an extraordinary meeting of the Council, where the 72 councilors were summoned and where 37 were present,” he announced.

“We were able to move forward with the points, we are the highest authority in the State of Coahuila and we want to be taken into account in the decisions about the candidacies for Governor.”

In January, he said, Morena is going to launch a call to choose the party’s internal pre-candidates who aspire to be candidates for the Governor’s Office and deputies.

Josué Hernández Morales, legal adviser to the President of the State Council of Morena, affirmed that, with the new State Elections Commission, new processes will have to be carried out for the selection of the candidate for the Governorship.

“The Agreement requests that the National Elections Commission of Morena establish the State Elections Commission so that we are taken into account in the organization of the processes for the appointment of pre-candidates at the time and candidacies to the State Government and local councils. “.

Matanus Castaño claimed the national leader of Morena for the appointment of Armando Guadiana, a process that, he said, must be restored.

“We are telling Mario Delgado that Coahuila is not touched, that Coahuila is not a bargaining chip, that Coahuila is not negotiated and the people of Coahuila are willing to defend and that it has been a very violent State, we have put the dead and the looting goes without saying, that Coahuila has had enough, it is not going to stay with its arms crossed and that Morena belongs to the militants and to all those sympathizers who want to be part”.

During the press conference, most of the directors who attended the extraordinary meeting were present, as well as local and federal representatives, mayors, trustees and councilors.

Prior to the press conference of the President of the State Council, other members of the Morena State Council related to Armando Guadiana and Luis Fernando Salazar, issued a statement, where they ask the National Honesty and Justice Commission of Morena to clarify whether the Council State has the power to participate in the designation of candidates.

“We fraternally urge the rest of our colleagues and fellow directors, as well as the President of the Council, to unrestricted respect for the statutory legality,” says the statement that, they say, is supported by 35 directors.

“We know of the good faith that accompanies their actions and that, for the good of the transformation of Coahuila, they will respect the resolutions of our national bodies”
