They report a new increase in consultations for respiratory symptoms

In the last week, the demand for consultations rose 10%. More than half are children under 2 years of age.

In the last week there was a 10% increase in the demand for consultations due to influenza-like illness (ILI)) and due to acute respiratory infection not pneumonia (IRANN), in relation to the previous week; going from 22,038 in epidemiological week (SE) 30 to 24,205 in (SE) 31.

The trend curve is above the alert threshold. On the other hand, there is a decrease in consultations for severe acute respiratory infections (SARI).

Refering to number of hospitalized due to severe acute respiratory infections (SARI), in the sentinel centers a percentage similar to that registered the previous week is verified.

In the last week evaluated, (SE) 31, 355 were counted hospitalizations for severe acute respiratory infections, of which, 65% corresponds to the pediatric age. 52% of these hospitalizations were observed in the group of children under 2 years of age and 35% in adulthood.

It is observed a slight increase in hospitalizeds due to respiratory infections associated with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), compared to the previous week.

Up to (SE) 30 there were 1,328 hospitalizations due to this infection. The higher proportion of hospitalizations associated with respiratory syncytial virus, 93% were confirmed in the pediatric age (0 to 19 years); 84% are less than 2 years old.

Until now, viruses circulating in the country identified in the last week evaluated are: Rhinovirus, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), SARS-CoV2, Metapneumovirus, Influenza A H1N1, Influenza B, and Parainfluenza.
