The controversy over the delivery of brown rice with weevils in school canteens that are under the administration of the municipality of Berisso arrived at the Deliberative Council of that town. At the beginning of January, several families of Worker’s neighborhood, rock villa Y Villa Spain They denounced that in the bags of the School Food Service (SAE) that they were given at Secondary School No. 9 Vanguardia brand brown rice packages arrived full of weevils, in clear poor condition. “They gave us this merchandise, full of bugs, you can’t eat it. The worst thing is that nobody cares about this, nobody controls the state in which the food is found,” said the neighbors who denounced the situation.
The opposition echoed the complaint and took the issue to the Deliberative Council, which is now in summer recess. The draft resolution raised by the Juntos block, and signed by the mayor Pablo Swar, requests Cagliardi to report “why unfit food was delivered for consumption”, “what are the controls that must be carried out for the delivery of merchandise from the School Food Service (SAE) and if they were complied with”, as he also asks “how to proceed with the families that were harmed by the delivery of food in poor condition”.
The SAE in Berisso is municipalized and, therefore, the food that is delivered depends exclusively on the Commune. It is not the first time that Cagliardi has had a complaint about the food that reaches families: in November of last year, boxes of milk “unfit for consumption” were delivered and even from the SAE they sent an email to the schools indicating that “It was not to be consumed.” The scandal also reached the Council then.
