They search for the person responsible for killing a teenager near a playground in Woodbridge

A 17-year-old boy was shot to death Saturday near a neighborhood pool in Woodbridge, Virginia, police said.

Officers responded to a shooting in a parking lot in the 5800 block of Moonbeam Drive around 1:40 p.m., according to Prince William County police in a statement. The shooting took place in front of tennis courts and a playground.

Officers found the teen in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. He had been shot in the upper part of the body.

He was taken to a hospital, but later died of his injuries. Authorities are still looking for the suspect.

After an initial investigation, police believe the teen was shot during a planned meeting. They said it was not a random incident.

Prince William County Police Sgt. Jonathan Perok said the shooting may have been over a drug deal gone bad.

The cause of the shooting remains under investigation.
