Yesterday there were two protests in Mexico City, one for the rejection of the permanence of the National Guard in the Collective Transportation System and the other for the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl named María Ángela Olguín.

The first march, called #MovilidadSinMiedo” began in the Ángel de la Independencia where some groups met to reject what they call the militarization of this public transport.

Among the dissatisfied were relatives of Yaretzi, who was the young woman who died in the reach of two Line 3 trains on January 8.

“I do not want to make a statement of disqualification or aggression because that does not give me justice. What gives me justice is the responsibility that is acquired for this unfortunate event,” said Yaretzi’s father.

A group, muffled and dressed in black, painted flower pots on Paseo de la Reforma and destroyed some establishments. Upon reaching the Zócalo, they threw four Molotov cocktails at the National Palace.

They cause chaos in Insurgentes

Relatives of María Ángela Olguín closed Insurgentes Norte for the second time near the Indios Verdes Metrobús station to demand that she appear.

According to the father of the 16-year-old girl, his wife entered the public baths that are located next to the terminal station of that transportation system, leaving the young woman outside. When she came out she was gone.

Last Thursday, family and friends had closed Insurgentes Norte but there was no response from the authorities, so they decided to block the avenue towards Ecatepec from approximately eight o’clock at night, causing traffic congestion and chaos for those who returned to their homes or who were going on a trip.

Around 11:30 p.m., security elements from the Citizen Security Secretariat, with riot gear, withdrew the protesters, freeing one lane of the highway; At press time, the partial blockade was maintained.
