Guadalajara.— A Twilight series is in development, US media such as Variety and The Hollywood Reporter confirmed on Wednesday.

Sources told the publications that a serial version of Stephenie Meyer’s popular books, which was previously adapted into a film franchise, is in the early stages on Lionsgate Television.

The project does not yet have a confirmed writer or streaming service.

According to sources, Wyck Godfrey and Erik Feig will serve as executive producers. Feig is the former co-chairman of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, while Godfrey and his Temple Hill production company produced all five Twilight films. Meyers is also expected to be involved in the production.

While working at Summit Entertainment, Feig acquired the rights to the Twilight book series after his death from Paramount Pictures.

The film franchise launched Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner to fame as it earned more than $3.4 billion in sales worldwide.

The upcoming “Twilight” series is the second recent example of a studio trying to put together a television version of a hit book franchise that had previously been adapted for the movies. Warner Bros. Discovery recently announced that they have a ten-year plan to turn all seven “Harry Potter” books into a television series, with each season focusing on one book of the story.
