More Peruvian girls will arrive at NASA. A new call for the program ‘She is Astronaut’ (She is an Astronaut) from the She is Foundation, with the support of the United States Embassy in Peru, will select a new group of girls from our country to train them and be the crew that will go to the NASA Space Center Houston.

How was the first experience of ‘Ella es Astronauta’ in Peru?

Last year there were 674 applications for ‘She’s an Astronaut’. The She is Foundation specified trome that, after rigorous selection, 14 crew members remained from Arequipa, Lima (La Victoria, Rímac and San Juan de Miraflores) and Cusco.

The program provided learning to these Peruvian schoolchildren and, in crew with another selected group of girls from Ecuador, they arrived at NASA headquarters and shared a week of experiences with aerospace engineers and astronauts.

Empowered girls are motivators of change

What are the requirements to participate in ‘She’s an Astronaut’?

The She is Foundation specified that the call will be available until February 5, 2023, for girls between 11 and 16 years of age.

They must be public school students, demonstrate excellent academic performance, have a deep interest in STEAM areas, and low economic resources.

In addition, it will be necessary for them to have internet access, a device to follow their virtual classes and support from a tutor or responsible adult (they will accompany the virtual activities).
