El Colegio de Médicos Cirujanos Plásticos del Estado de Chihuahua AC, in collaboration with the ALMA Foundation and government authorities, will carry out the 21st and 22nd of the current month, the Breast Reconstruction Campaign “Dale Vida a Tu Vida”, an altruistic exercise which seeks to bring together and support at no cost, patients who have been affected by breast cancer and who require surgical treatment and intervention.
The President of the Colegio, Dr. Fernando M. Gamboa López, I explain that the doctors of his union will attend to women, especially those who do not have the necessary resources to carry out the Breast Reconstruction procedure, which currently has a year or more in their process without chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatments, that there is no disseminated disease (metastasis), and no uncontrolled aggregated diseases such as uncontrolled diabetes or hypertension; he added that patients who required reconstructive surgery for the first time or for secondary procedures (refining, contralateral breast surgery, implant replacement or expander removal, etc.) could be included.
For his part, Dr. Ricardo A. Baca Martínez, former President of the College and currently head of the Colegiada de Cirugía Plástica de México, details that the day will start with a protocol act on the day of today jueves 20 at 10:00 hrs. in the General Hospital Auditorium, where Dr. Rina Gitler Weingarten, Founder and Director of Fundación ALMA and officials from the state health sector, will meet with patients and families to start the Campaign for Breast Reconstruction.
Likewise, Dr. Jorge I. Borunda Herrera, Vice-president of the collegiate, explained that there will be 14 patients from Ciudad Madera, Jiménez and the capital of Chihuahua, which will be operated by a total of 22 sub-specialist doctors in Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, 12 of Colegio y 10 de la Fundación ALMA, which began operations at 08:00 hrs., to end at approximately 16:00 hrs, on both days.
It should be noted that the cost of a Breast Reconstruction is between 120 and 150 thousand pesos approximately, this includes the surgical equipment, implants, expanders, fees and hospitalization, in such a way that by doing a team work, the surgeries are achieved lleven a cabo en los nosocomios del Estado, General Hospital and the Cancerology Center.
