Already available in China since the end of 2022, the Honor Magic Vs will be presented in Europe at the Mobile World Congress. The smartphone could be one of the first serious competitors to Samsung’s hegemony in folding smartphones.

While folding smartphones have multiplied on the market in recent years, it is clear that their number is much more limited in Europe. While Oppo, Huawei, Honor, Motorola, Samsung or Xiaomi have already entered the race, only Samsung and Motorola models are currently marketed in France.

Nevertheless, the market should evolve significantly in the coming weeks. While some hallway noises already evoke the launch of Oppo folding smartphones in Europe, it is another Chinese manufacturer which should also launch worldwide at the end of the month. As reported by the site 9to5Google, Honor has indeed announced its presence at the MWC in Barcelona on February 27. On the his website page linked to the world telephony show, the manufacturer – former subsidiary of Huawei – evokes the two models which should be at the heart of the event: the Honor Magic 5 range and the Honor Magic Vs.

The Honor Magic Vs, Honor’s first folding smartphone to be launched in Europe

If the Honor Magic 5 is still new, the Honor Magic Vs is already known, since it was presented last November in China. We even had the opportunity to take it in hand, while indicating that “the brand’s teams, without confirming anything, were really in no hurry to deny the rumors evoking a launch of the Honor Magic Vs in France during the first half of 2023“. However, if Honor comes to take advantage of MWC 2023 to place the spotlight above the folding smartphone, three months after its Chinese launch, it is undoubtedly to mean an upcoming European launch.

The Honor Magic Vs uses the same format as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold range, with a large folding screen inside of 7.9 inches and a second screen outside of 6.45 inches. The smartphone also features the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and a photo module with a 54-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with x3 optical zoom. Regarding autonomy, Honor has integrated a 5000 mAh battery compatible with wired charging up to 66 W.

We will have to wait a few more weeks to have confirmation of the launch in France of the Honor Magic Vs and to know its price. As a reminder, the folding smartphone was launched in China last November from 7,499 yuan (i.e. 1,010 euros excluding tax) for the 8/256 GB version and up to 10,888 yuan (1,464 euros excluding tax) in the 16/512 GB version. .
