This is a father and ex-partner of a young woman murdered by her boyfriend, a Fort Lauderdale officer

From Peru and in the midst of immense pain, Dayanna Huratado’s father said that he still has many questions about the murder of his daughter, on Tuesday night, in an apartment complex in Coral Springs, where the young woman lived with her boyfriend since the month of February passed.

Luis Enrique Hurtado, the father of the young victim, only manages to say: “I can’t assimilate it yet, friend… I can’t assimilate it. According to what my daughter told me, he was a calm person, I don’t know what went through his head.”

The suspect, who turned himself in to authorities hours later, was identified as 21-year-old Chase Harder, police said, a Fort Lauderdale arrest officer.

Coral Springs police reported that after officers responded to the apartment complex located in the 9200 block of Ramblewood Drive, near the MAA Coral Springs community, after receiving numerous 911 calls at approximately 8:30 am, in the The young woman was found dead with several gunshot wounds.

One caller said she heard four shots and then watched a white man run with a child on his shoulders until he got into a white Mercedes pickup and drove out of the parking lot, according to the police report.

The man would have taken the girl to her biological father’s house in Palm Beach. At approximately 11:00 p.m., the man alerted authorities that Harder had left the girl at her residence after something she said made him suspicious and he called 911.

The suspect later contacted the Coral Springs Police Department to turn himself in. Harder reportedly confessed to the incident to officers, for which he was booked into a Broward jail, facing one count of premeditated murder and one count of written threats to kill or cause bodily harm.

The Fort Lauderdale police ruled on this fact and reported that the officer was on administrative leave. “The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is disappointed to learn of the arrest of one of our employees.”

“As a result of this arrest, Harder has been placed on administrative leave without pay pending further investigation. We extend our deepest condolences to those affected by this horrific incident,” police said in a statement.

“I don’t know if they were fighting, I don’t know, but why shoot, I don’t understand,” says the father of the young mother who leaves a three-year-old girl an orphan.

The young woman’s father wants to take her body to Peru where almost her entire family lives, including her father, who is now requesting the help of the Peruvian consulate in Miami to expedite the process.

The last time father and daughter talked was the day before the murder, she told him that she had gone to the Orlando parks with the girl and her boyfriend, and that everything was going well.
