Saudi Arabia will host a new summit to attract support for Ukraine from emerging countries, says the ‘WSJ’

Saudi Arabia will host a new summit this August to attract emerging countries to support Ukraine, according to the ‘Wall Street Journal’. Up to 30 countries are invited to come to Jeddah, including India, Brazil, Indonesia, Egypt, Mexico, Chile and Zambia.

The objective is to achieve international support for peace terms favorable to the Ukrainian aspirations, which demand the withdrawal of the Russians from all their territory, including Crimea.

The ‘Wall Street Journal’ points out that it is not yet clear how many countries will attend, although countries that participated in a similar round of talks in Copenhagen (Denmark) in June are expected to do so again, according to the report.

The UK, South Africa, Poland and the EU are among those who have confirmed their attendance and national security adviser Jake Sullivan is expected to attend on behalf of the US.
