Earlier in December, it was announced that the viewer favorites Tid for hjem and Tid for hage will be broadcast for the last time in the spring.

– Upcoming seasons of “Time for home” and “Time for garden” will be the last on TV 2. Kjersti Bergesen and the gang have inspired the entire Norwegian people with their enthusiasm for renovation. Nevertheless, we have chosen to close a chapter, to create room for other ideas, stated TV 2’s program editor Kathrine Haldorsen.

Since 2004, over 200 homes have been visited by the Time for Home gang, led by Kjersti Bergesen (60). In 2019, they also tackled Norwegian people’s gardens in Tid for hage.

– It is very sad. I’m sorry. I’ve been working on this for an incredibly long time. At the same time, I knew that one day it would be over, Bergesen told TV 2 when the news was out.

During the seasons, the viewers have been inspired, gaped and perhaps picked up some useful tips and tricks. But what does Bergesen himself remember best over the years?

Funniest moment

When she reminisces through the seasons, it is not so easy to pick out her favorite moments. There is, however, one incident that she remembers particularly well.

In the first episode of season 16, the renovation crew would tackle a home that would be the first proper the home of a multigenerational refugee family.

– Andreas made a sick “machine” to make a round. The rest of us didn’t know about it and were surprised. It all turned into a delightful laugh sequence. One of the funniest moments, she says.

Finest result

“I think this project is one of the coolest things we’ve done!”

This is how Bergesen began the project, back in 2019. She describes it as one of the finest results during the seasons.

Several families wanted to turn a shared boathouse into a pleasant place for coziness and socializing, storage, as well as having practical solutions for setting out and picking up a boat.

Due to spring floods, carpenter Andreas Nygaard faced a challenge – how to make fixtures that can withstand a water level of 27 centimeters above the floor?

Gets a chin drop from Time for Home’s ingenious solution

The ingenious solution was a perforated, stainless metal plate along the floor, so that the water could flow in and out. In addition, the same sheet was laid on the roof so that the moisture could easily dry and the boathouse would be fine.

Crispest result

Each season Tid for home brings with it different designers who draw up a plan for how the project should look. There has been a lot of wild colours, smart solutions and unique touches. Bergesen singles out a project from last season as the craziest result.

“Here you should be in a good mood when you come home,” says designer Morten, who chose – to put it mildly – non-traditional colors in the entrance area, Bergesen began.

The family of four struggled to agree on which colors to choose in the living room, kitchen and hallway. One thing they were sure of was that white walls were not an option. Then designer Morten Skjærpe Knarrum took responsibility.

– It was quite a fun takeover, says Bergesen.

See how the couple reacted when they saw the colorful result in the video below.

– It was a colorful delight. It was a funny sequence where we had painted the hallway in bright orange colors, and the designer also comes in and takes a look. He had to go out again and look again because it was so much fun to come in, she says.

– Funny moment for me

In season 20, the gang tackled an old-fashioned living room. How should they transform it into a modern expression?

– I feel we have been lucky. The designer has done a great job of creating a pleasant room. We don’t want to change anything, Atle said happily, when the couple got to see the result.

The “grandmother’s house”, as the couple described it, was completely transformed with warm colors and natural materials.

For Bergesen, however, it is something else that she remembers as a nice moment from the project.

– I made a huge paper picture. We mounted it in a frame, lying on a table, we also hung it up. It was great and a fun moment. It turned out so nice.
