Chinese smartphone brands are racing for the fastest charging in their devices, and Realme has just taken the lead with the announcement and release of their new model. But that’s not the only number that’s impressive.

A 240 W load on the Realme GT Neo 5

Before the era of fast charging, all smartphones charged with a 5W wall pad. It was normal to wait more than two hours to go from 0 to 100% battery. But as phones became more and more durable, they began to charge faster and faster.

And today, it is the Chinese brands that are betting everything on figures that go ever further. Between Vivo and its 200 W Flashcharge and Xiaomi with its 210 W, Realme is on the top step of the podium with no less than 240 W on the counter of their new model, the GT Neo 5, with a 450 mAh battery. A new record which, according to the brand, can recharge the smartphone in just 10 minutes.

But what’s even crazier is that the GT Neo 5 can go from 0 to 20% in 80 seconds. Suffice to say that you can be dry and recover enough battery for half a day to go to the toilet. So of course, these are the tests carried out by the brand in absolutely ideal conditions where the smartphone is not awakened during charging, and the outside temperature is ideal. The GT Neo 5 has just been announced and is already available for purchase in China. There’s also a model with a humble 150W recharge for a bit cheaper.

Price: 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage for…

In addition to the (very) fast charging, the GT Neo 5 has a rather well-stocked spec sheet. It is equipped with the processor Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1the penultimate chip from Qualcomm. The 6.74-inch AMOLED screen is gigantic with a resolution of 2272 x 1240 pixels.

It is the rear side that is the most original, with a triple module including a main 50 Mpx, an ultra wide-angle of 8 Mpx and a macro sensor of 2 Mpx. The 16 Mpx selfie camera is discreet with a punch on the top of the screen.

But what is striking is the prices applied by Realme. As always on Android smartphones, there are several possible configurations depending on the RAM and storage space you need. Many models go up to 12 GB of RAM on Android, and some have up to 1 TB of storage, or 1000 GB. And often, you have to pay the price, but not here.

Indeed, with the Realme GT Neo 5, here is the maximum configuration with its price converted into euros:

  • 16 GB RAM
  • 1 TB of storage (1000 GB)…
  • …For 478€

A price clearly never seen for so much RAM and storage. It remains to be seen what are the potential flaws that could justify such a low price. The photo quality remains to be proven.

Unfortunately, and for many smartphones that come out first in China, it is possible that he will never reach France.
