Mishaal Rahman has therefore discovered a hidden settings menu in the Developer Preview of Android 14. It is nicknamed “Spa” and gives access to the “Background Install Control” service. This allows you to use the “Apps installed in the background” feature. With this feature you can view and uninstall all preinstalled apps on your smartphonewhether by the manufacturer or the mobile operator.

Android 14 which will prevent you from installing outdated apps displays the following message to explain this feature: your device manufacturer may install apps on your device in the background or allow your carrier and other partners to do so. Not all apps listed here are necessary for your device to work normally. You can uninstall apps you don’t want “. All apps listed by this feature are actually only not necessary for the proper functioning of your smartphone.

With Android 14, users will therefore be able to easily identify and remove bloatware if they want. On current versions of Android, it is possible to uninstall some, but not all of them. Some can only be disabled from app settings. The new feature of Android 14 will therefore be very practical for permanently deleting these applications.
