As sad as they are, series and movies based on real tragedies are always interesting, after all they are part of history. One of these disasters just got a miniseries on Netflix: Three Days That Changed Everything.

The eight-episode series draws attention for explaining how the disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant occurred, which happened on March 11, 2011, about 225 kilometers from Tokyo, the capital of Japan.

Three Days That Changed Everything: What Happened?

The Fukushima disaster was caused by the meltdown of three of the six nuclear reactors at the plant, which in turn occurred after an 8.7 magnitude seaquake caused a tsunami that hit the site.

The day after the accident, on March 12, dangerous amounts of radioactive material began to be released. With that, the nuclear tragedy became the second largest since Chernobyl, which happened in 1986, reaching level 7 on a scale that measures the severity of nuclear accidents.

Three Days That Changed Everything: What Happens in the Series?

In the miniseries Three Days That Changed Everything, we follow how the disaster unfolded from the beginning, when the 15-meter-high tsunami hit the power plant. Damage occurred to one of the site’s cooling systems.

The plot also shows what the government’s measures were to prevent people from being harmed by radiation and how the plant’s employees needed to act to prevent even worse damage and understand how to solve the problem.

You can now marathon the miniseries Three days who changed the world complete on Netflix.
