International Education Day was designated by UNESCO and marks the signing, in 1966, of the recommendation of UNESCO and the “International Labor Organization on the status of teachers”. The day off on October 5 was introduced 10 years ago, starting with the 2013-2014 school year. In Romania, we also celebrate Teacher’s Day, on June 5.
