On 10 January, the seventh season of Farmen kendis premieres. Twelve contestants will once again fight to be crowned the winner of the popular reality series.
One of the participants that the viewers will be seeing on the screen is an actor and Sofa profile Aslak Maurstad (30).
When the 30-year-old agreed to take part in the programme, he was very aware that there were several measures that had to be taken.
– I said to myself that “it’s not going to work at all if I don’t prepare”. What mattered most was which participants I ended up on the farm with, something I could not control. And who you end up on the farm with is 90 percent of the game, I feel, he tells TV 2.
Therefore, Maurstad decided to travel back in time to 1923 with a good plan.
Physically weakest
In the weeks before Maurstad traveled to Steinsjøen farm, he decided to put in the necessary work for him to succeed in 1923.
The 30-year-old decided to test how much natural talent he had in the various dueling disciplines. It quickly turned out not to be so much.
Maurstad was aware that there was one thing that would decide his fate on the Celebrity Farm.
– The most important thing was the cast, but that was not something I could control. That’s 90 percent of the game. Then there were the remaining ten, then.
It was the remaining 10 percent that he knew he could do something with.
– I had a thought that “this is never going to work if I don’t prepare”.
After testing the various dueling branches, his concerns quickly proved to be correct.
– I did all the branches quite poorly, really. That was a bit of a problem. So my tactic is always to practice a lot more than everyone else, so that I get better. The way I do with other things in life, he says.
That’s why Maurstad chose to practice a lot in all the branches.
– And I did it wisely. Because I was clearly the physically weakest of my sex, says the 30-year-old, laughing.

Tricked the other participants
After testing all the physical branches, it quickly became clear that there was one branch in particular that Maustad did very poorly in.
– I was clearly the worst at tug-of-war. It would never have worked!
Therefore, the actor certain precautions, should he be challenged in a tug-of-war.
– I considered pretending that I had competed internationally in tug-of-war – in my weight class then. Then I Googled words and expressions to get the others to believe in me, and bought shoes with “super-grip” which I took with me into the farm. But I quickly realized during training that tug-of-war was not my sport.
He also practiced sawing a lot, and even got professional help from a carpenter to learn the right technique.
– I practiced sawing a lot before I went in. Just holding the case was uncomfortable at first. I also noticed where I got hurt, and where I did it badly before I learned it properly. I did this so that I could pretend that I did the bad thing in front of the other participants – so that they would think that I had no idea about sawing.

– Did it turn out to be a good tactic?
– I feel that was a good tactic. When we (the participants, jour. note) met several months later, someone brought it up. There was a day when I said “I’ve learned how to saw”, and then did it badly on purpose. So then they were very surprised, and had not suspected that I did it on purpose. So maybe that helped!
Despite preparing well in the dueling events, there was one thing he failed to prepare for.
– It was a lot more work than it looks on TV! There was no time to do anything other than work on the weekly assignment. The rest of the time was sleeping, eating or befriending the big farmer so he doesn’t choose you.
