Yesterday Disney CEO Bob Iger announced new films from Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia, undoubtedly three of the most successful animated franchises of the last two decades. The announcement of a fifth chapter of Toy Story it was later confirmed on Twitter by Tim Allen, voice of Buzz Lightyear in the original version of the saga. At the moment there are no further details on the plot or on whether or not it is a direct sequel to Toy Story 4.

It has not yet been confirmed if Tom Hanks will return to voice Woody and how the two iconic characters will be able to reunite. Toy Story 4, which came out in 2019, seemed to be the natural conclusion of the saga after the main characters had separated entirely and lived their own lives. The franchise expanded last year with the hero-driven film Lightyear that inspired the toy from Toy Storyintroducing the legendary Space Ranger that would win over generations of fans.

Lightyear – The true story of Buzz is directed by Angus MacLane, Annie Award-winning director and veteran Pixar animator, who co-directed Finding Dory of 2016. To dub the iconic space ranger we thought Chris Evans, who has always declared himself a big fan of the character. While the post-credits scene teased fans with Zurg’s return, there are no plans for a sequel.
