Two Argentines died this Tuesday in a head-on collision that occurred on a route near Punta del Este. Local media reported the tragic outcome, although the entities were not revealed. These first reports revealed that among those involved was a man from La Plata.
As explained, seven people were injured in the accident. And sources close to the consulate indicated that the fatalities are two Argentine women.
The road accident occurred around 2:00 p.m. this Wednesday on Route 104, corner of Las Ballenas, near Manantiales, in Maldonado, reported the National Directorate of Firefighters of Uruguay.
The two deceased women were on a Ford Ka with two other passengers. While in the second vehicle, a Volkswagen Nivus, five people were traveling, at least two of them of Argentine nationality.
At the moment, the fatal victims were identified by the authorities by their initials. The driver as MT and the companion as JF Of the injured, the Fire Department reported that a young woman and another young man from Argentina suffered multiple injuries and were transferred to the Cantegril Sanatorium.
Among the injured is Melanie Labauru27 years old, and Nicholas Rocks, with polytrauma and blunt abdominal trauma, who were referred to the same health center. Both are Argentine.
While also mentioned among the injured are: John Paul Senteroof Uruguayan nationality, diagnosed with mild trauma; Nazarene SierraUruguayan, also with mild trauma; Melina AntunUruguayan, with minor lower limb trauma and La Plata Luciano Strassera. However, those close to the Strassera family clarified that the young man was traveling in another car that did not participate in the accident, although he did know the fatalities and transferred one of the injured people to a health center.
The crash occurred in a place where a large amount of traffic is usually concentrated and through which Jose Ignacio, La Barra, Manantiales and El Chorro are accessed.
