The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Wakfs issued a statement, on its official Facebook page, regarding the issue of Friday prayer if it falls on the same day as Eid.

In this statement, the ministry expresses concern over to the erroneous fatwas published on the various social networks by individuals unqualified in the field of Islamic jurisprudence. The Ministry’s note cites that these practices lead to the defamation of the beliefs of others and the invalidation of certain Muslim cults.

The majority of jurists maintain that Friday prayers are obligatory for all Muslims, even if it coincides with the celebration of Eid.

Eid, Friday or Saturday?

The Algerian association of astronomy “Sirius” has announced its forecast of the probable date of Eid al-Fitr 2023 in Algeria.

It confirms the observations of the international center of astronomy which had also indicated weather disturbances which could prevent the sighting of the crescent moon on Thursday.

The association has published via its Facebook page technical details on the appearance of the star over the next few days. The sighting of the crescent moon remains crucial in determining the end of the month of fasting.

ETUSA provides transportation for citizens for Eid

The urban and suburban transport company of Algiers (Eaten) had presented its transport program for the two days of l’Aid el-Fitr in Algeria.

The company has established a special program to facilitate travel for Algerian citizens during this religious holiday. This program includes travel between the different districts and municipalities of the Algerian capital, as well as visits to cemeteries, a common practice during this holiday.

According to the statement released by ETUSA, city transportation services will begin from 6:30 a.m. and continue until 7:00 p.m. Night services will start from 7:00 p.m. and end at 1:40 a.m.
