According to the National Survey of Urban Public Safety made by the INational Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) In the first quarter of the year, in Mexico, three out of 10 citizens believe that the crime and insecurity that lives in the area he inhabits will continue to be “just as bad” in the next 12 months.

Last March, 62.1 percent of those surveyed considered living in their city unsafe, against the 66.2 percent registered in the same period of 2022. This reflected a slight decline in the perception related to the topic.

More women are demanding security

They are followed by the Army (82.5 percent); National Guard (73.6 percent); state police (53.2 percent), and municipal police (45.6 percent).

On the issue of insecurity due to sex, women are the ones who mostly feel insecure in their cities (68.1 percent). 54.8 percent of men feel unsafe in their city.

Fresnillo is the city considered the most unsafe nationally (96 percent); followed by the municipality of Zacatecas (94.3 percent); Naucalpan (88 percent) and Ciudad Obregón (86.4 percent).

In contrast, San Pedro Garza García is considered the safest city with only 18.3 percent perception of insecurity; followed by the mayor of the capital Benito Juárez (19.4 percent) and Piedras Negras (19.9 percent).

At the national level, 72.9 percent of those surveyed consider the ATM on public roads the place where they feel most insecure.

In second place was public transport (65.2 percent); the bank (55.9 percent), and the streets that are generally used (54.4 percent).
