joaquin phoenix is the main star of ‘Beau Is Fear’, a suspense film directed by Ari Aster, the same creator of new classics of the genre, such as Hereditary and Midsommar.
‘Beau Is Afraid’ is the name of the project that released its first official trailer through A24’s YouTube channel.
The filmmaker Ari Aster returns with a project to the big screen, by the hand of A24, after the success of Hereditary and Midsommar that were transcended since its launch years ago.

What is ‘Beau Is Fear’ about?
“You will walk many kilometers, dozens will become hundreds and hundreds will become thousands. Your adventures will last as the years go by”, is heard in the clip, presenting a disconcerting and disturbing journey in which the protagonist played by Phoenix is involved.
Many consider this tape to be a cross between the films Misery, Roger Rabbit and Benjamin Button.
The official synopsis for the A24 tape reads: “A paranoid man embarks on an epic odyssey to get home to his mother in this bold and cleverly depraved new film from writer-director Ari Aster.”
In addition to Joaquin Phoenix, the film has a cast that includes names such as: Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Stephen Henderson, Zoe Lister Jones, Armen Nahapetian, Parker Posey, Patti LuPone, Kylie Rogers and Stephen Henderson.
Despite the expectations of the fans of Hereditary and Midsommar, Ari defined this production as a comedy full of nightmares.
In an interview with indiewire expressed that his feature film is definitely not a horror project. “It might take me a few movies before I go back to horror, because I love this one and I’m sure I’ll be back,” he said. However, he clarified that Beau’s story goes another way.
The premiere of ‘Beau is Afraid’ is April 28, 2023.
