The transfer poker around João Gomes is apparently over. As reported by Brazilian journalist Venê Casagrande, the 21-year-old midfielder is moving from Flamengo to Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Premier League club transferred a fixed 18.7 million euros to Rio de Janeiro, including 1.5 million in bonuses. In addition, Flamengo was able to secure a resale participation of ten percent. Gomes, who is called Pitbull because of his aggressive style of play, has already signed a five-year contract with the Wolves.
Bayer Leverkusen also recently showed interest in the strong six, but a transfer never became concrete. Olympique Lyon was also part of the poker and bid for Gomes. Since the French offer was initially higher than that of Wolverhampton, the 21-year-old’s move to England threatened to fall through. However, the Wolves have now drawn level, which means that Gomes’ move to his dream club is now taking place.
