Watch the stars on La Palma: Telescopes open again

On the Canary Island of La Palma, visitors can again view space telescopes from the inside and immerse themselves in the work of astronomers. The Roque de los Muchachos observatory on the highest mountain of the volcanic island has reopened its doors. The local tourist office draws attention to this.

In the meantime, the research center and its numerous telescopes were closed to visitors because of Corona. Now you can take part in almost two-hour guided tours there during the day, for which you have to register in advance. The minimum age for this is six years. According to the tourist office, vacationers have a choice of three providers: Astron places, Ad Astra La Palma and AstroLaPalma.

In 2012, Unesco named the island in the Atlantic a “Starlight Reserve”. Because the conditions for observing the night sky are ideal here. On La Palma there is a law against the so-called light pollution.

Museum in Alsace shows cars from films by Louis de Funès

Mulhouse – The films with Louis de Funès are cult. The cars that the French actor and comedian drove on screens in the 1960s and 1970s are also classics. The National Automobile Museum in Mulhouse in Alsace is devoting a special exhibition to Louis de Funès from April 5, according to the Visit Alsace tourism agency.

The exhibition, which is scheduled to run until November 5, should be of interest to classic car and film fans alike. Visitors should be able to see the Citroën 2CV from the comedy “Louis, the rascal”, the Citroën DS from “The Adventures of Rabbi Jacob” and the Citroën Méhari from the “Gendarmen” film series.

Travel to Zimbabwe: There must be enough blank pages in the passport

Harare – Those traveling to Zimbabwe often fly via South Africa. It is then important that there are still enough free pages in the passport. The Foreign Office writes in its updated Travel Advice. The immigration authorities of both countries required that two consecutive pages be blank on which visas can be entered.

For a transit flight or a return flight via South Africa you need at least six blank pages. Since the regulation in Zimbabwe and South Africa applies to entry and exit. According to the Foreign Office, if you fly directly to Zimbabwe, four blank, “visa-capable” pages in your passport are sufficient.
