Algerian travelers and members of the diaspora are now planning their summer holidays. While many people choose airlines for travel, others prefer travel by boat.

In this wake, the national shipping company, Algérie Ferries, has published a new press release, in which it addresses its travelers who wish to travel to Spain in the coming days. In particular, those who travel with their pets.

In a press release published on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, Algérie Ferries addresses its passengers, who travel with their pets. The shipping company has informed that several pets arriving at the port of Alicante, Spain, do not have the minimum health documents required in this country.

And since Algeria is one of the countries suffering from the rabies virus, the national shipping company invites its passengers to respect the procedures imposed by the European health system. To know :

  • A serological analysis carried out by an organization recognized by the European Ministry of Health;
  • An updated rabies vaccine;
  • Marking with an updated chip, tattoo or implant;
  • And finally valid identification documents.

In addition, Algérie ferries recalls that these travel conditions for pets are mandatory and its passengers are required to respect them. In the case of non-compliance with these measures, the animal will not be able to enter Spanish and European soil in general. As a reminder, rabies is a dangerous virus transmitted by the saliva of an infected animal following a bite, scratch or after licking injured skin, this virus is also transmissible to humans and vice versa.
