An 11-month-old baby died at the Parque Acuático Comanjilla spa in Silao, Guanajuato, after a eucalyptus tree fell approximately 6 meters high, which also left 11 people injured.

The event happened yesterday, in the middle of the holiday season, so this tourist center was closed so that authorities could carry out the corresponding investigations.

The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. Citizens reported what happened to the emergency numbers, while other visitors ran to help the victims, according to the videos released of the incident.

At that point, Silao Civil Protection personnel, León Firefighters, state PC, Municipal Public Security, Red Cross paramedics and State Public Security Forces arrived.

In this regard, PC de Silao indicated that strong winds were recorded in the municipality in the region.

“It is convenient to mention that yesterday afternoon in Comanjilla there were strong winds, as well as rain, and today there was significant wind in the place.”

Francisco Gómez Pliego, head of Silao Civil Protection, told local media that the vacationers who went to this water park yesterday were evicted and an exhaustive investigation is being carried out to rule out other points of risk.

“We continue making tours in the points of mass concentration and previous days we visited the spas and other areas where people go these days, to check that their facilities are adequate to provide the service,” he said.
