Southeast Asian leaders condemn attack on former President Trump

Los Southeast Asian leaders on Sunday condemned the attack on former US President Donald Trump and candidate for the White House, Donald Trumpduring a political rally in the state of Pennsylvania, which left one spectator dead and two injured.

“It is with great relief that we receive the news that former President Trump is well. Our prayers are with him and his family. Together with all democracy-loving people around the world, we condemn all forms of political violence. The voice of the people must always be supreme,” he said in X Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr..

For its part, Thai leader Srettha Thavisinsaid he was “appalled” by the attack on Trump. “We are deeply concerned and do not tolerate such forms of violence. On behalf of the Thai people, I wish former President Trump a speedy recovery. Our thoughts are also with the injured and affected families,” he said on social media.

The same opinion was expressed by the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lawrence Wongwho is “relieved” that Trump is out of danger and wishes him a speedy recovery, also expressing his condolences to the families of the victims of the attack. “We must never resort to violence, regardless of differences of opinion,” the Singaporean leader stressed on X.

Meanwhile he Malaysian leader Anwar Ibrahimstressed that “whatever our stance towards any figure, this is not the way to solve problems and therefore we express our sympathy towards Trump and hope that the situation remains under control,” in a brief statement to local media.
