Game release dates can sometimes be a sticky affair due to regional time differences, and a dutch streamer has learned it the hard way after being banned to transmit Forspoken “ahead of time”, despite being available in some parts of the world.

It is the latest in a series of bans that have affected a number of streamers at the start of 2023, including high-profile streamers like Adin Ross and Mizkif. However, the streamer in question has been quick to appeal his ban and has already asked Twitch to lift the ban early.

Forspoken is the new action RPG from Japanese developer Luminous Productions, a subsidiary of Square Enix formerly known as Square Enix Business Division 2, which was the lead developer of Final Fantasy 15. Their latest game follows a young woman, Frey, transported from New York to Athia, a fantastical world that lives under the tyrannical rule of a society known as the Tantas.

Frey must use her newfound magical powers to navigate the dangers of Athia, free her people from the Tantas, and ultimately find her way back home.

Although the game, at the time of writing, has not been released in the US, it is already available in some markets in the southern hemisphere, a fact that the Dutch Twitch streamer GTAMen took advantage of to get a copy of the game before of time. The streamer, who normally broadcasts Grand Theft Auto Online RPGs, went live and was able to broadcast part of the gameplay before Twitch stepped in and placed a 48-hour ban on him for streaming the game early.

GTAMen vented his frustration over the situation in a tweet in which he shared the email notification he received about the ban and the reason why it was placed on him.
