Fhey on the 20th of April, Twitter removed the famous ‘blue seal’ from the pages without Twitter Blue subscriptions, causing well-known personalities to remain unverified on their pages. However, just a few days after the measure came into force, the ‘blue seal’ reappeared on the pages of some celebrities, who say they did not pay for it.

The case happened, for example, with former football player Gary Neville, tennis player Andy Murray, actor Ian McKellen and comedian Ricky Gervais, who on that social network noticed the “mysterious” reappearance of the symbol.

“My blue ‘stamp’ reappeared. Free… some game,” wrote Andy Murray.

“They gave me back my blue seal! I won the power struggle!!!” joked Gary Neville.

Commenting on the publications, other verified accounts ended up reporting that the same thing had happened to them.

It should be noted that, on Thursday, when Elon Musk’s new policy came into force, the owner of Twitter ended up confirming that he was paying for some celebrities to keep the ‘seal’. The ‘chosen’ by Elon Musk were basketball player LeBron James, writer Stephen King and actor William Shatner.

The ‘blue seal’ should only signal users who pay eight dollars (about 7.29 euros) per month to have this distinction and other advantages of Twitter Blue, such as more visibility, technical privileges or fewer ads.
