Of the children died from a suspected drowning in the pool of an empty house in Hollywood, Broward County, according to official information released.

The two infants, whose identities and ages have not been released, were taken to a hospital Friday after being found near-drowning in a pool in the backyard of a home in the 6400 block of Meade Street, reported Local 10 News.

As contributed 7 News Miamirescue teams arrived at the scene in reference to reports of a drowning incident in a swimming pool.

Paramedics provided first aid to the children, who are between one and three years old, before transporting them to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. However, the police confirmed this Monday that they died.

Surveillance video captured paramedics placing one of the victims in the back of an ambulance.
“I was in a state of shock,” said Claudia Oyuela, a resident of the area.

Neighbors pointed out that that house is used as a vacation rental, a fun place for a family with a private heated pool out back.

“Everyone wants to be in a pool, everyone wants to have fun right now,” Oyuela said, “and it’s really sad that something that’s a lot of fun ends up like this.”

Authorities said there is no evidence to suggest criminal involvement, adding that the investigation has been completed.

All parties involved are cooperating fully with the police in their efforts to determine the circumstances that led to this near drowning.

Just a few days ago, the media lamented the death of five teenagers who drowned when the car they were traveling in skidded off a curved street and into a pond in southwest Florida, where it sank.

The Kia sedan veered off the road along Topgolf Way, east of Interstate 75 and Colonial, and fell into a stormwater retention pond.

Its five occupants, ages 18 to 19, had recently graduated from high school, and were on their way to buy fast food.
