The case is updated.

Two women in their 20s and 60s were found dead in a home in Kragerø on Monday evening. The police are investigating the case as a suspicious death.

Police station chief Øystein Skottmyr confirms to TV 2 that two people were found dead after a report of concern from an acquaintance of the deceased:

– We received a message at around 11pm on Monday evening. There had been a report of concern at first, from someone who had tried to get hold of the older of the two. Two dead people were found at the scene, says Skottmyr.

Do not suspect a criminal act

– There is nothing to indicate that any criminal act has taken place. Both are sent for autopsy. The case is described as a suspicious death, because we do not know the cause of death yet, continues the police station chief.

The two dead have a family relationship, confirms Skottmyr. He does not want to elaborate on what kind of relationship they have.

He says the police are investigating the matter further. They are now waiting for forensic reports and the autopsy report. It will probably not arrive on Tuesday, partly due to staffing at Christmas.

The police: – Nothing to indicate any criminal act

Kragerø Blad Vestmar reported the case first.

The two women were found lifeless at the scene, and they were declared dead by health personnel a short time later.

– They are Norwegian citizens, and they are not known to us from before, says Skottmyr to NTB.

– For now, we have no idea how long they have been dead, he continues.

– Deeply tragic

– It is first and foremost deeply tragic that such a thing happens. We are in dialogue with the police and possibly others if there is anything we should possibly assist the next of kin with.

It is an early phase and the police are making their assessments. Then we will see the outcome of that, says mayor Grunde Wegar Knudsen (Sp) in Kragerø municipality to TV 2.

He emphasizes that the incident is unbelievably sad for the Kragerø community, especially for the small community at Levangsheia.

– The close circle of the two who have been found is not that large. It is considered whether they should get help from the psychosocial health team. If they need it, they should of course get it.
