Uber driver is accused of sexually assaulting an intoxicated passenger

An Uber driver is charged with a serious charge for attempting to sexually abuse a defenseless woman. Police said he allegedly committed the act while the passenger was passed out in the back seat of her vehicle.

Alejandro Andres Tochoytochoy, 43, is behind bars and is accused of trying to sexually abuse a 25-year-old girl who came as an Uber passenger in the vehicle she was driving.

“There is probable cause for attempted sexual assault,” the court said Tuesday in relation to what “happened while he was driving an Uber while the victim was passed out in the back seat.”

According to the arrest report, the victim was out for a walk in the North Miami Beach area last Friday and after a night out with friends, she ended up severely intoxicated. One of her friends ordered an Uber ride for the woman that was driven by the defendant.

The victim, who was feeling ill, was lying in the back seat of the defendant’s vehicle while in transit to his destination.

Police say that the young woman apparently woke up to feel the defendant caressing her private parts and trying to penetrate her with his fingers.

According to authorities, the victim was afraid and got out of the man’s vehicle when he was near his final destination, later being able to identify the subject as the individual who sexually assaulted her.

In court it was learned that Tochoytochoy has been living in Miami for “4 months” because before he lived “in Colombia.” This Tuesday the authorities warned him: “sir, you are not allowed to drive Uber or operate as an Uber driver.”

The defendant remains in custody at the TGK County Jail on $50,000 bail and must stay away from the victim.

This is not the only similar case that has been reported with Uber drivers in South Florida.

The company has recently been working on reforming its security methods, adding a tool that allows customers and drivers to record audio of the entire trip.

Its activation is easy, it can be done before or during the race. First press a blue shield that will appear on your screen and if you are in the Miami region, among the options you will find “audio recording”.

We contacted Uber requesting a statement and in their response they indicate: “We are deeply disturbed by the experience reported by the passenger. This behavior has no place in our society, and we take reports like this very seriously. We have a dedicated team ready to assist law enforcement with their investigation.”
