It was originally supposed to be released in November 2018 but everything seems to have gone wrong for Ubisoft’s ambitious pirate simulator. 2018 turned into 2019, which turned into 2020 and now, in 2023, we have waited until the premiere on March 9th, for this eternal project, but there will be no end to it, either. Ubisoft has announced that the game is not up to par and that the studio will continue to polish it. The new release isn’t nailed down but they’re talking about “fiscal year 23-24” which is the same as March 2023 – March 2024. However, our most educated guess here at Gamereactor revolves around the game being shut down before it’s released after those six (! ) postponements.

Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft CEO:
“We are clearly disappointed by our recent performance. We are facing contrasted market dynamics as the industry continues to shift towards mega-brands and everlasting live games, in the context of worsening economic conditions affecting consumer spending.”

What do you think of the Skull and Bones perpetual project?
