Russia sends troops to reinforce the Zaporizhia front, weakening the Kherson front, according to London

The Russian army has sent several units of the airborne forces deployed in the Kherson province to the Zaporizhia province, where the Russian troops are being heavily harassed by the Ukrainians and need relief. This is stated by the British Ministry of Defense in its latest intelligence report, in which it maintains that this redeployment will weaken its forces on the left bank of the Dnieper river in Kherson.

According to the report, “Russia has probably redeployed airborne units from Kherson to the Orijiv (town) sector of Zaporizhia where there is heavy fighting.” There, he explains, Russia’s 58th Combined Army has been facing off against Ukrainian attacks since the Ukrainian counteroffensive began in early June.

London explains that on July 11, the commander of the 58th Army was fired, “probably in part because of his insistence that elements of his troops should be relieved.” London cites in particular two units that have suffered “intense attrition and heavy fighting at the front.”

The document concludes that there is a “realistic possibility” that airborne troops will eventually allow relief of some of those units to recover, but “however, the relocation is likely to weaken Russian defenses near the left bank of the Dnieper River (at Kherson). ), where they are increasingly harassed by amphibious raids from Ukraine”.
