Emmanuel Macron announced pay increases for teachers on Thursday, as expected. They will include a share paid to all and a share for teachers who accept new assignments. In total, 3 billion euros will be devoted in a full year to this revaluation. We take stock.
• An unconditional rise
The “base” revaluation (unconditional), from September, will make it possible to “already put everyone above 2,000 euros” net per month, explained the Head of State. “Beyond that, it is at all career levels that there will be an increase in remuneration”which will be included “between 100 and 230 euros per month” net.

The budget envelope for this part of the increase in teachers’ salaries is 635 million in 2023 for a revaluation on September 1, and 1.905 billion euros in a full year in 2024.

In detail, the allowances received by all teachers for student monitoring (parents’ meetings, class councils, etc.) – ISAE in primary education (Student monitoring and support allowance) and ISOE ( Allowance for monitoring and orientation of students) in the second degree- will be “doubled”said the Ministry of Education.
These allowances are currently 1,256 euros gross per year for ISOE and 1,200 euros for ISAE. They will both be increased to 2,550 euros gross per year from September, allowing a revaluation of nearly 100 euros net per month for all.
The attractiveness bonus will be revalued for the first 15 years of career. Trainee teachers will now receive it, bringing their salary increase to 160 euros net per month.

The transition to the second grade of the career (the “out of class”, after 20 years) will also be facilitated (5,000 additional promotions from 2023). Access to the third grade (exceptional class) after 25 years of career will also be facilitated and expanded.
• An increase linked to new missions
The other part of the increase in remuneration (i.e. 1.1 billion euros over a full year) will be linked to new missions and based on voluntary work, within the framework of the « pact » offered by the government to teachers, said Emmanuel Macron. This part “will allow teachers to receive up to 500 euros per month in addition” net in total, he said (this amount is for early-career professors who will engage in three complementary assignments, according to the ministry).
Ce « pact »flexible, will be broken down into three units of 1,250 euros gross, which can go up to 3,750 euros gross increase per year if a teacher takes three.

Among the missions offered, there are in particular short-term replacements in college and high school, “high priority” for the ministry, participation in the system “homework done” (to do homework in college) or success courses during the holidays. Or, for primary school teachers, participation in the weekly hour of support or deepening in French and maths in 6th year created at the start of the school year or support for pupils in difficulty in elementary school.

These missions, in the form of an hourly volume, will be 18 hours per year for replacement and support in 6th grade, 24 hours for other missions.
Teachers will also be able to choose other missions in the form of an annual commitment: to participate in innovative educational projects, in particular within the framework of the CNR, to the reinforced support of pupils with disabilities or to the coordination of the discovery of trades in college.
