Urologist convicted of sexually abusing patients

A former New York urologist has been convicted of multiple federal charges of sexual assault of male patients, including minors.

Prosecutors say Darius Paduch appears to have exclusively targeted men and boys to engage in illegal sexual activity during urology exams at New York Presbyterian, Weill Cornell Medicine and Northwell Health hospitals between 2007 and 2023.

He was also accused of luring minors by deception.

In total, 225 former patients have filed individual civil actions against hospitals that allegedly covered up their misconduct.

The victims’ attorney met with reporters after the verdict and criticized the hospitals for their role in this case, saying they all conspired to keep the exurologist’s sexual exploitation and abuse a secret.

Darius Paduch could face life in prison.

A sentencing date has not been set.
