Washington DC, United States.- Mexico and the United States are searching for three US sailors who were last seen on April 4 in the state of Sinaloa, the US Coast Guard said.

The three sailors reportedly left the port city of Mazatlán en route to San Diego and were supposed to stop in Cabo San Lucas on April 6 to get supplies and report, but never made it.

“There was no record of their arrival in Cabo San Lucas and no report of their location,” the US Coast Guard said in a statement released late Friday.

The Coast Guard requested information on the whereabouts of the three Americans, whose Ocean Bound sailboat was a La Fitte and identified them as Kerry O’Brien, Frank O’Brien and William Gross.

“Urgent maritime information transmissions have been issued over VHF radio requesting all mariners to be vigilant for missing persons and vessels,” the US Coast Guard said.

The disappearance of the sailors comes about a month after the kidnapping of a group of Americans in the border city of Matamoros.

Two of the Americans were killed and two survived, while the drug gang believed to be behind the incident handed over five alleged henchmen as a possible apology for the kidnapping.
