Velmathe animated spin-off of “Scooby Doo” arrived this Thursday at the platform of HBO Max to tell -with an original script loaded with doses of mystery and comedy- the story of the mind of the gang, with some changes and seasonings that contribute to the original plot.
mindy kaling (“The Mindy Project,” “The Office”) lends her voice to play the young Velma Dinkley who has decided to “share the chilling events” that “led her to put together the best team to solve mysteries in history”, as she advances in the trailer.
As we can see, some of the characters from the original story will return, such as Fred (played by Glenn Howerton) and Daphne (Constance Wu), while the version of Shaggy is called Norville (Sam Richardson), evidencing the differences with the previous character but alluding to him from his characteristic clothing with the green shirt and brown pants.
“This is my story, told my way”anticipates the protagonist about the ten episodes already available, where we will also hear the work of a cast made up of Jane Lynch, Wanda Sykes, Russell Peters, Melissa Fumero, Stephen Root, Gary Cole, Ken Leung, Cherry Jones, Frank Welker, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Fortune Feimster, Yvonne Orji, Sarayu Blue, Nicole Byer, Ming-Na Wen, Shay Mitchell, Debby Ryan, Kulap Vilaysak Y Karl Anthony Towns.
“Velma” is directed by Charlie Grandy with executive production by Mindy Kaling, Howard Klein and Sam Register.
It was not the only reversion that was released recently. Let’s remember that 2022 presented the film “Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!”where Velma (or Vilma, for Latin America) is part of the LGBT+ community.
