Venezuelan musician is appointed artistic director of the Cantabria Festival Palace

SANTANDER.- The composer, director and pedagogue Venezuelan Esteban Sanz Vélez was appointed director artistic of Palacio of Festivals of Cantabria by the Regional Society of Education, Culture and Sports.

He musician and new director has extensive teaching experience, management and musical organization. He has been director of various musical groups and organizations, has written and premiered numerous works, and has carried out multiple musical research projects, as well as designed and promoted informative activities and for the development of creativity.

Sanz, who replaces Carlos Troyano, who was in charge of the artistic direction of the Palace for the last two years, has the titles of senior professor of orchestra conducting, and of music theory, transposition and accompaniment; as a teacher of harmony, counterpoint, composition and instrumentation; and piano teacher.

Likewise, he has a Master’s degree in emotional, social and creativity education from the University of Cantabria.

A musician close to the Palace

Sanz has collaborated since 2018 as an advisor in music and training strategies at the Botín Center and has received numerous distinctions, such as the Coralia 2012 and Discantus 2017 awards, as well as the Diapasón de Oro 2013, awarded to people with outstanding contributions in the field of music. Cantabrian and national coral, respectively.

In 2017 he founded and directs Ensemble Instrumental de Cantabria to this day.
