On Monday morning, the Swedish Road Traffic Center reports very demanding driving conditions over large parts of the country.

The Swedish Road Administration has a clear message for those going out to drive today.

– If you have to go out today, calculate plenty of time, keep your distance, slow down and drive according to the conditions. It can be very slippery in some places, says traffic operator Christofa Kei Nilsen.

A lot of water and ice in the roadway causes trouble in several places.

– Water in the road makes it extra slippery. It has been challenging with this rain all night, says Kei Nilsen.

She says that the Swedish Road Administration is working like crazy, but the problem is that what you put on the road is washed away.

– Today is a day when you have to consider whether you really have to go out with the car or not.

Here it is the worst

The traffic operator says that it is currently worst in Western Norway, Southern Norway and Eastern Norway.

– Especially along the coast it is extra slippery, she says.

Northern and central Norway are less affected by difficult driving conditions.

The Swedish Road Administration has been working on explosives through the night to Monday.

– We have what we can which is out at all times. We have worked all night to make the best of the situation we have now, she says.

Ongoing updates

The Norwegian Road Administration updates the situation continuously with traffic reports.

Among other things, the Vegtrafikksentralen in the West reports on Monday morning that it is “very slippery” in several places along the E16, Bergen-Voss and on to Aurland.

– We have all cars outside, but the conditions are demanding. Drive carefully and according to the conditions, urges the road traffic center in a Twitter message.

The Southern Road Traffic Center writes that the northbound Kleivene tunnel is closed due to a traffic accident.

– Drive carefully, they also encourage via Twitter.

In an update on Monday morning, the Road Traffic Center in East also warns.

– There is precipitation over large parts of Eastern Norway, in the form of snow, sleet and rain. Great danger of ice and storm water on the roads. Drive carefully, keep a good distance and slow down. If you don’t have to use the car, leave it alone.
