According to TV Peru, the high-voltage cables that are part of the bridge structure would have short-circuited, sparking the fire. The incident was controlled by the General Fire Department, which quickly rushed to the scene to put out the flames.

The fire alerted residents and employees of companies near the bridge that connects the districts of La Victoria and Lince. It also caused fear among drivers traveling in the lane from south to north of the Vía Expresa. However, no property or personal damage occurred.

Wiring and tubes could fall to the track

Colonel Martín Aruajo, head of the PNP Transit Division, assured that measures were taken to prevent part of the tubes that protected the wiring from falling onto the highway, affecting vehicles, drivers, or passengers.

“We were able to realize that part of the material that was burning was being released as a result of the fire,” he said.
