María Eugenia Vidal will not be a pre-candidate for president. The Juntos por el Cambio (JxC) deputy declined this Thursday the possibility of competing for Rivadavia’s seat, but she remarked that she will continue “working for and to recover Argentina.”

“‘Don’t fight’, ‘Stay united’, they told me on each tour. For this reason, because I listened to them and because I understand them, I decided that this time I am not going to be a candidate for President of the Nation,” Vidal said in the passage most relevant of an extensive tweet in which he announced his decision.

In that same letter, she said that “I have been traveling the country for a year and a half and, although I am proud of the potential that our Argentina has and the drive of its people, I cannot ignore the anguish, fear and sadness that they transmit to me in each province.

“It paralyzes inflation, insecurity scares, bad news stuns, the future is scary because the government does not give confidence,” added the former governor of the Province.

Immediately afterwards, she assured: “I am convinced that it is essential that Argentines trust that Together for Change is the way out. It is the only political space with the team and the experience necessary to move the country forward. I know that the multiple candidacies only generate division and uncertainty. Individual projects cannot be above the whole”.

In addition, Vidal maintained that the decision “was made on the street” and “not behind a desk.” “I decided by listening to those who want to be educated to progress, to those who choose freedom and not submission, to those who work and to those who give work. I decided by traveling and planning the future that I want for my country”, he expanded.

Finally, the legislator stated: “And that is what I am going to continue doing: I am going to continue working to defend our unity, strengthening our proposals and bringing to every corner of the country the hope that a better Argentina is possible. Without fighting, without chicanas, without baseness”.

“Tomorrow they will find me in the same place as 20 years ago: working for and to recover Argentina,” he concluded.

In this way, the JxC internal is reconfigured again. With the casualties of Mauricio Macri and María Eugenia Vidal in the dispute for a place for October, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta and Patricia Bullrich continue to be the main electoral offers of the opposition coalition.

Further back, Miguel Pichetto, Gerardo Morales and Facundo Manes are listed, who in recent days confirmed that they are part of the presidential squad.
