“The enemy was firing mortars and the explosions of artillery bombs were getting closer and closer. Assault troops continued to hunt the enemy in the middle of the battlefield – in a village full of Russians.”

The video shows offensive actions by the soldiers of the 1st Assault Battalion recorded by the GoPros they wear.

Pictures show a devastated village, with burnt trees and destroyed buildings it appears, after Russia appears to have razed the settlement.

President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke to the Ukrainians, on Friday evening, about the situation on the front and about the progress made by the Ukrainian counter-offensive, confirming the conquest of the village of Andriivka, located 10 kilometers south of Bahmut.

Russia on Saturday denied the Ukrainians’ claim that they had recaptured the village.

“The enemy did not abandon plans to capture the city of Artyomovsk (Bahmut) in the Donetsk People’s Republic and continued to conduct assault operations … unsuccessfully trying to drive Russian troops out of the population centers of Klishciivka and Andriivka,” the Russian defense ministry said .

Andriivka is south of largely ruined Bakhmut, a symbolic prize that Russian forces captured in May after the fiercest and longest battle since Moscow’s February 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
