Antonio Ledezma presents his new book Venezuela, Politics and Environment

MADRID.- The former mayor of Caracas, Antonio Ledezma, who is currently exiled in Spain, is preparing to launch his new book titled “Venezuela, Politics and Environment.” In this work, the opponent explores Venezuela’s mineral reserves and sustainable energy alternatives in a world in transition towards cleaner energy sources.

Under the auspices of the Kalathos publishing house, Ledezma will present his book on May 9 in Madrid. The work has the support of the oil expert Humberto Calderón Berti, who describes the documentation presented as “of palpitating interest.”

The book also received praise from the former Venezuelan minister Moises Naimwho highlights Ledezma’s innovative ideas on how climate change could benefit Venezuela.

Ledezma emphasizes that his analysis is not radical, but instead proposes a gradual transition towards cleaner energy sources, such as solar and wind, while taking advantage of the country’s oil, gas and gold reserves to strengthen education and technology.

The author relies on studies that show Venezuela’s potential for the generation of solar and wind energy, but regrets the lack of public policies and investment that prevent the use of these resources.

Additionally, Ledezma highlights Venezuela’s natural riches, including its numerous protected areas, while warning about the environmental impacts of uncontrolled mining exploitation in Bolívar state.

The book has a foreword by former Venezuelan Minister of the Environment, Arnoldo Gabaldon, who praises Ledezma’s proposal for a sustainable development model as an alternative to the traditional extractivist model.
