From the early hours of this Monday, the trial for the “Monte Massacre” began, which occurred on May 20, 2019, where four young people (three of them minors), lost their lives after a police pursuit, which has to several defendants. Everything came together in room A of the building at 8 between 56 and 57.
According to judicial sources commented to this medium, on this day the Voir-dire (the selection of the jurors) was carried out, then the initial instructions to the jurors were given and finally, the parties will begin to present their theory of the case. The trial is expected to testify around 31 witnesses in a series of intense days.
Outside the building, who was present was Susana (who will testify this Tuesday), the mother of Gonzalo Domínguez, one of the 14-year-olds who died along with Aníbal Suárez (22), Danilo Sansone (13) and Camila López (13), all aboard the Fiat 147, which ended up overturned and hit a trailer to cause an unfortunate tragedy.
“I had anxiety in recent times until now. Since I don’t know hate, I was able to cope very well all this time,” he said in the first instance.
In turn, in another of his statements, he stated: “I have nothing against the forces, the police. But if against them, because they were corrupt policemen. We are talking about policemen who worked with bribes, with illegal pressures They set up causes. They were the most corrupt thing in the city and unfortunately this happened.”
Lastly, he described: “The boys studied, played sports, led a normal life. We live very quietly in the interior. I live very close to the center, so Gonzalo was very close to the square. The clubs where he went to swimming, I had it close to home. Also the sports center. There was no danger, until they went out for a walk, it is a tourist place and very beautiful, but hey, this happened with these criminals”.
The Buenos Aires police officers who will be in the dock are the former captain of the Buenos Aires Province Police Rubén Alberto García, the officer Manuel Monreal, the officer Leonardo Daniel Ecilape and the officer Mariano Alejandro Ibañez. The four are accused of “aggravated homicide for abuse of duty as a member of the police forces qualified for the use of a firearm – consummated and attempted – and violation of the duties of a public official”, for the death of the young people and for the attempted aggravated homicide of Rocío Quagliarello, the only survivor of the persecution (who was also in the vehicle), and who at that time remained hospitalized for 25 days at the El Cruce Hospital, in the town of Florencio Varela.
According to judicial sources, the teenager will not testify in person in the debate, although she did give her testimony through the Gesell Chamber because she is a minor and it will be broadcast in one of the hearings.
In turn, they added that the production in terms of evidence (testimonies and others), will begin this Tuesday.
