This Thursday, Andrés Manuel López Obrador defined the meeting with his peers as follows: “It was a very productive and fraternal meeting, within the framework of the good neighbor policy. So, there are very favorable elements, our economy is very stable, among other things due to this good relationship…”. The one who took the most time and detailed was the foreign minister: “The summit and the bilateral meetings have been a success for Mexico and for North America. Just a few years after the government began, there was the judgment of whether America had a common future. The thesis that the way is to strengthen North America, not only with the treaty, but with the understanding, the joint initiatives, have paid off…”, expressed Marcelo Ebrard.
And it is that during the three days, also in the hours before and in those that followed, it became clear to us that the meeting was a commitment well fulfilled that, of course, left a lot for analysis, but, in reality and immediately, demonstrated the strength of this administration on foreign policy issues. Frankly, there is nothing to reproach the organization for, it was even significant gestures that both presidents agreed to land at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport, because they were able to say no to the request made from the National Palace. And this was just one example of the bargaining power of the Mexican delegation in charge of attending this summit.
In addition, both in the meetings and the protocol events recorded in front of the press, there was no moment that showed disorder, not even that meeting with the media in which the guests lacked time to answer the questions of the reporters and the President of Mexico spread as if he were in his morning. The X Summit of North American Leaders was a success if we measure it in terms of the organization and the immediate effect it generated.
