A few days ago, the story of a disabled man who is on the streets together with two minors, in the area of 11 and 46, was revealed. Hours later, a woman accompanied by six more children joined them, who They must have spent Christmas on the street.

“The children are 12 and 14 years old and they are the ones who push the man’s wheelchair,” said a street vendor from the block about the man.

Liliana, one of the women who intervenes to protect the boys, was the first to approach, report the situation to the authorities and ask for help. At that time, the NGO “Sumando Voluntades” went to the place to provide him with food, prior to Christmas Eve. They wanted to contact the Municipality to try to find them and place them in a safe space, as well as the Provincial Organization for Children and Adolescents, without success.

After EL DÍA released the news, the local mayor intervened to offer them a roof and a safe place. This implied that the man in a wheelchair and the little ones had to be separated, something to which they did not agree.

Although these two groups do not have a fixed point in the City and are asking for help in various areas, the young people continue in a situation of vulnerability, having had to spend the holidays in the street, with the low temperatures that were registered at the end of of week.

The children received footwear from donations to the NGO “Sumando Voluntades” and food. They were last seen on Sunday the 25th, for Christmas.

“Sumando Voluntades” is an organization that assists homeless people with food and meals and was one of the first to intervene in this case. What caught his attention the most, said Nancy Maldonado -member-, is that unlike what they see every day, these kids had no place to go.

Liliana, assured that she saw them for the last time this Monday. In addition, she demanded the intervention of the authorities: “If I do not call, does no one investigate to see what happens? How can it be that they don’t go, look for the responsible adult, are asked for the children’s documents or where they came from? Everyone passes the ball and drifts but this is the never ending story”.
